"Pilgrim Roots of the Great Migration," the first international tour in our "Pilgrim Pathways" series of heritage tours occurred last week in Nottinghamshire and environs in the United Kingdom when thirty members of the New England Historic Genealogical Society retraced the steps of the early Separatists. It was a spectacular success. Our tour leader, Robert Charles Anderson, provided a fascinating background to the history of the Separatists and our guest speaker, Sue Allan, spoke to us with great passion on William Brewster, William Bradford, the Reverend Richard Clifton, and others. Among our visits were Babworth Church (pictured above), Gainsborough Old Hall, Scrooby Manor, the site of William Brewster's Separatist meetings, and Austerfield Church, associated with William Bradford. I returned to Boston after a few days, but the tour carried on and highly enthusiastic reports have reached my ears. Our next "Pilgrim Pathways" tour "Pilgrim Escape to Leiden" will bring us to The Netherlands in 2019.
